…i got chemical burns from a facial mishap all over my face. teaching high school with chemical burns on your face is an experience. kids have no tact.

“miss! what the hell happened to your face?”

“miss, did you know that your face is kind of purple?”

“i hate to tell you this miss but you look like you’re dead”

or the beauty of watching them whisper to each other and point to their own faces. you know things suck when year nine girls aren’t nasty about it, they just say that they feel sorry for you. and then affectionately call you “barney”. because you’re purple.

today is the first day it has looked mildly better. i’m heading to the city to see the ex-fiance’s band play. i’ve said i would go so many times and have not gone, i thought it was about time. i’ve tried to cover the hideousness of my face, and am attempting to deflect attention with heavy eye makeup and cute hair.

no pictures because i still feel horrendously embarrassed.

Intersecting swirling trails left by the earlier passage of dust devils across sand dunes, as they lifted lighter reddish-pink dust and exposed the darker material below. Also visible are darker slope streaks along dune edges, formed by a process which is still under investigation.
